THE EARLY YEARS:

How Frank built Stewart Electrical into a Multi-million Dollar Corporation.

Frank R. Stewart, Founder of Stewart Electrical Contracting, Inc., (SEC) received his Journeyman License in 1983 when he was only 19 years old—1 year after graduating from the Greater Lawrence Regional Vocational School Electrical program. Frank worked as an Electrician at the Lowell Housing Authority for 30 years (1985 – 2015) performing electrical, fire alarm, heating, lighting, bucket truck, and intercom services at Federal and State housing units.

Not wasting any time, Frank founded his own electrical business as a Sole Proprietor in 1983 in North Andover, MA, working evenings and weekends when he wasn’t at the Housing Authority. In his early 20’s, he began purchasing residential multi-family real estate as investment property, handling all the electrical and property management duties. Since then, his real estate holdings have grown substantially in both the residential and commercial sectors. Many of the properties he purchased needed major renovations and new electrical, which he provided. He also serviced clients in the residential, commercial, and new construction industry, including bucket truck services.

Frank attended Northern Essex Community College (Master Electrician Curriculum) totaling 100+ hours classroom to qualify to sit for the Master Electrician examination. His dedication, hard work and commitment paid off. Frank received his Massachusetts Master Electrician license in 1997. Subsequently, he became licensed as a Master Electrician in New Hampshire, Maine and Vermont.

In the early years, Frank partnered with other local electricians to work on larger jobs. As his reputation grew, his business expanded exponentially by referral and word of mouth. His first major commercial client was Comcast, still an SEC client to this day. As demand for his electrical services rapidly accelerated, Frank gradually began to hire other employees—he currently leads a team of 35 professionals!

Initially, Frank ran his electrical business out of the garages of his rental properties. In 2013, he rented commercial space for SEC in Lowell, MA. The business soon outgrew the space. In 2016, Frank purchased a 1.8 acre parcel on Route 28 on the Andover/Lawrence line, the former site of a swimming pool supply business.

Over the years, he completed extensive renovations and upgrades to the exterior and interior of the property.  It is now the beautifully maintained headquarters of Stewart Electrical Contracting, Inc. The property features 10 high bay garages, two 8,000 square foot warehouses and 5,000 sq. feet of office space.

The SEC corporate fleet of 26 vehicles includes 4 bucket trucks, 4 utility/rack body trucks, 1 box truck, 10 vans, 4 pickup trucks and 3 SUVs. This equips the team to handle projects of all sizes and scopes.

FAST FORWARD TO 2024: Stewart Electrical Contracting, Inc. services clients in the residential, commercial, industrial, and telecom industries in all 6 New England States: Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Maine, Vermont, Connecticut and Rhode Island.
